Luis Valente
I am an evolutionary biologist interested in the origins of biodiversity in a geographical context. I use modelling, phylogenetic and genomic approaches to reconstruct diversification dynamics over evolutionary time scales. I work on a variety of organisms (plants, birds and mammals) from marine islands and continental biodiversity hotspots.
I am currently a Senior Researcher at Naturalis Biodiversity Center and Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands).
NEWS:
New paper in Nature, where we use a large global phylogenetic dataset of islands birds to test the theory of island biogeography.
